How to Catch Barramundi

Experienced Barra guides, Allan Beale and his staff at Darwin's Barra Base have been showing clients how to catch barramundi for years. Through May and June they have been putting clients on to double figure catches on a regular basis.

"We released many Barra", Allan said. "they seem to range from 60-80cm, but larger fish beat the clientsto the snags or simply shook them off."
"Due to these cooler water temperatures, the fish are not gobbling the lures aggressively.
"fishos should troll against both the incoming and the outgoing tides to gain the best results without too many snags", Allan explained.
"Work your lures with aggressive jogs, but you must lower the rod back down to get the best results.
"Best lures doing the trick are 10+ and 15+ Classic Barras"

Taking a trip with guides who know the NT fishing scene gives you the best chance of being at the right place to catch barramundi as the tides and conditions change thoughout the year.

One day Barra Fishing trips leave Darwin each day to the best fishing grounds. Check for available seats here.
