Fishing Guide Hugh Johnstone
Hugh Johnstone has been fishing since he can remember, like most of us he started as a 'Jetty Rat' chasing anything with gills and a tail.
Hugh Johnstone - Guide Profile
Darwin's Barra Base
To date Hugh has fishing experience in the Northern Territory, Tasmania, Victoria, Queensland, Lord Howe Island, New Zealand and Thailand.
Prior to moving to Darwin in 2006 Hugh had been refining his skills with the 'long wand', chasing Tasmania's wild Brown Trout. Offshore he was stretching his arms on the brutes of the sea, the Southern Bluefin Tuna and also tangling with 100kg plus Striped Marlin off the East Coast.
Since arriving in the Northern Territory Hugh as added a long list of pelagic fish to his bag; including Sail Fish, Black Marlin, Northern Bluefin Tuna, Spanish Mackerel, GT's and Queenfish.
Currently Hugh is perfecting his skills chasing the iconic Barramundi on surface lures, surely one of the most explosive and exciting methods of snaring this fantastic tropical sportfish.
Hugh welcomes you to Darwin's Barra Base and hopes to see you on the water soon!
