Seeing the fantastic wildlife that inhabits these beautiful wetlands is a sight you will always remember. |
The wildlife will include the birds (Jabirus, Pelicans, Cranes, Whistling Ducks, Brolgas, Sea Eagles, Whistling Kites and many more). Then be astounded when Water Buffalo and Feral Pigs are witnessed exploring the floodplains and waters edge of the billabong. In the afternoon we clean the fish and then the sea eagles put on a show swooping down and grasping the Barra filleted guts in awesome spread wing displays. Get the Cameras ready, you don’t want to miss the action. Finally returning back to the boat ramp approx 4pm. Trailer the boat, pack up the car & boat and travel to Point Stuart Wilderness Lodge for rest, evening meal & overnight accommodation.
Up 6.00am for early breakfast at 6.30am, pick up lunches and ice and travel to Shady Camp boat ramp. De-cover the boat, prepare and launch boat at Shady Camp Freshwater Lagoon. Spend the rest of the day fishing for those saltwater Barras trapped in the lagoon from the last set of spring tides. Variety of fish sizes will be caught here from 45cm to 1 meter-plus Barra. Also Saratoga, Tarpon, Catfish, Long-Tom, and Mighty Mouth. Again the wildlife will enhance you as well as some very large black crocodiles that inhabit this lagoon. Returning back to Boat Ramp approx 5 pm. Drive the boat onto the trailer place on covers etc and travel back to Point Stuart Wilderness Lodge to down a couple of coldies at the bar, shower, rest up or go for a swim. Take in the evening meal, have a few drinks & sleep.
Up 5.00am pack bags into car and travel back to Corroborree Park Tavern for breakfast, pick up lunches and ice then travel onto Corroborree Billabong or Hardies Lagoon to fish the remainder of the day, taking in the sights of the breathtaking wetland scenery and wildlife. Completing afternoon activities of feeding Sea Eagles, returning back to ramp approx 3pm. Clean & pack up boat and drive back to Darwin’s Barra Base. Rest, drink & prepare for evening meal where awards for fishing excellence will be handed out. Sleep at Darwin’s Barra Base B & B, and or catch the midnight flight home (flights arranged by self). Pack up frozen fish caught in approved flight boxes for air transport and gain taxi to airport.
4th Day or Stay on @ B&B Depart Darwin flights arranged by self (times TBA). Pack up fish in fish approved transport boxes for flight home. Free transfer to Airport if during daylight hours. Or stay on at Darwin’s Barra Base B&B and sightsee Darwin & tropical NT. Please book all extra accommodation if you are intending on staying on at the B&B after the Safari.
