Darren Gibneys Group of 11 took a 3 Day Barra Run off fishing Safari 15th to 17th of March 2011
Very enjoyable, Caught lots of Jewfish 120cm to 130cm 40lb. Also caught plenty of barra ranging from 80cm to 102cm. Threadfin Salmon were also in the count with the largest being 114cm.
Were lucky to strike the Weather being fine. Considering it had rained and been windy for the previous months.
Lots of Crocs, Jabiru, water buffalo and a large turtle was seen. Ross (Guide) knowledge on bird life was great, All 3 guides Allan, Daniel and Ross all tried their hardest to make the safari the best for all of us they could not do enough.
Daniel (Guide) knowledge of tides telling us that this barra will come in just wait (we did not believe this) but sure enough the barra came.
All enjoyed great night?s sleep at the B&B Lodge in Malak for the night before and the night back from the safari all enjoyed great hot showers. Overall everyone had a great time.
Thanks Allan was an awesome experience, hopefully see you next year.
Great time out on the reef 1.3m Jewfish 40lb, I was not catching anything and to start off with that Jewfish and then a barra 63cm.
Barra to Sailfish May to December We have had an awesome year so far catching some meter plus Barra during the Run Off and would really like this to continue.
We would love to take you out fishing and make your trip a memorable one!
Anth & Dani's Big Trip
"What an amazing trip, we had tried all types of fishing from rivers, deep channels, poppers, bait fishing, trolling and lure fishing. We were amazed at the variety of fish and beauty of the place. Special thanks to Allan and Heather for their hospitality, we highly recommend Darwin's Barra Base if you are coming to the Territory"
